Museums

Route 66 Museum, Clinton
Every state along Route 66 has several museums dedicated to the Mother Road. Western Oklahoma has at least two. The one in Clinton is closed for renovation for another couple of weeks, although the gift shop is still open. It was designed by the same architect as Pop's in Arcadia.

One of their attractions is a Valentine Diner.

Route 66 Museum, Elk City
Route 66 Museum, Elk City
The Route 66 museum in Elk City was open. A pretty spot to stop and spend a few minutes wandering around. I'd love to see the huge Route 66 sign at night with the neon lit.

Lots of other museums along the way that we didn't take the time to stop at, although the Devil's Rope museum in McLean, Texas was tempting. I've never seen an entire museum dedicated to barbed wire. Those are big balls of it above the "Tribute to Barbed Wire" sign, by the way. But the open road called, and we only stopped long enough for a quick picture.
